Here's an update from our boys GAMENIGHT:

The first big, semi recent news we have to share is this: we are now in our third year together as a band. We had a big “Two Year Birthday Bash” in October 2007 with Papermoons (Houston, TX) and Plainclothes Tracy (Johnson City, TN) to celebrate the past two years. We also took this opportunity to celebrate the years to come. We look forward to what is ahead for us. The fact that we have already been together for two and a half years is unbelievable to me. It doesn’t seem like that long ago when Brandon, Robby and I sat naked in the Kerr family hot tub to discuss the ideas for the formation of Gamenight back in 2005. Wait, I don’t think we were naked that time. Nonetheless, many exciting things are fast approaching.

After our two-year celebration show, we finished writing our half of the Mouth Movements/Gamenight split, which is set to come out on Missing Words Records on May 27, 2008. We are contributing four songs to the split. We traveled to Johnson City, TN, the first three weekends in February to record with Travis Kammeyer at Fahrenheit Studios. We had an absolute blast. Each day in JC followed a similar routine: wake up/eat, record from about Noon until 2 or 3 in the morning, and finally we would walk to Mid City Café for a late night dining/laughing session. We worked really hard on the tracks, but we also had so much fun hanging out with Travis and Joe and being our goofy selves. We are extremely excited for our friends across the country to hear our new songs. Personally, I think it is the best recording we have ever made, and that includes our old bands as well. Hopefully everyone else will think so too.

We have played few shows since we began recorded. The shows we have played have been amazing, especially the last one. On April 4, 2008, we played a big show at Patrick Sullivan’s in Knoxville, TN, with Mock Orange and Allegories. It might have been my favorite show that I have ever played. Good times, good times. Another thing that we have been working on individually this spring has been writing. We have countless song ideas between the four of us. We will work through the rest of this spring and through the summer as well to try to iron all these ideas out. Hopefully this will mean that we will be recording another album this fall or winter. Releasing two albums in the same year would make us very happy, but at the very least, we will release a new full length sometime next year.

We are currently booking a month long tour for this summer. We are going to head west beginning in late June, traveling through Nebraska, South Dakota, and Montana before we get to Washington. We will then go down the Pacific coast to the Los Angeles area, then back toward Tennessee. We will post our shows as they are confirmed, so if you live in this general vicinity, look for a show near you! We hope to see many old friends this summer, and hopefully we will meet lots of great new people. For those of you we miss this summer, we hope you enjoy the split. Take care, everyone. We will see you soon.

Love,
Josh, Matt, Brandon, and Robby

MARCH 23, 2008

Lots of news today! Including two new records to announce! First off, April 29th will see the release of Breatherman, the debut release by epic instrumental, ambient metal band OCOAI, from Johnson City, TN. Curious? Well, go to www.breatherman.com and you can listen to the entire record right now!

Also, I'm happy to announce another split release to be released this Summer on Missing Words featuring THE ASHTRAY LIFE and YOU JUST DON'T, the acoustic pseudonyms of THE RETURN's Derek Jennins and GAMENIGHT's Joshua Mannis. More details on this release to follow. Also, for those of you still eagerly awaiting a full length from THE ASHTRAY LIFE, don't fret, it's in the works too. Hopefully you'll be seeing that before the year is over.

Finally, the split release between MOUTH MOVEMENTS and GAMENIGHT has a name and release date! You’ll be able to pick up your copy of “Blue and Green” on May 27th!

Good stuff, right? Also, a new website and merchandise are in the works! Keep an eye out! Thanks for the support

February 1, 2008

Okay, so my new years resolution for 2008 is to make this the biggest year for Missing Words yet... and a lot bigger, not just a little bigger. In addition to the releases we already have planned I'd love to work with some new artists this year. And I think we need a make over. That's next on my agenda. Anyway...

GAMENIGHT began recording their new songs for the upcoming split with MOUTH MOVEMENTS that will be out in the spring.

Derek has been working on some new material for THE ASHTRAY LIFE and hopefully we'll have him in the studio before too long.

In our final bit of news, we have a new PO box so if you need to send us demos, love letters or hate mail, there's a new place to send it.

Oh, and new dates have been posted in the shows section.

December 15 , 2007

Happy holidays, kids. Here's the scoop on what's new with us.

First off, I WAS A LOVER DeLOREAN WAS A DEALER's EP “My Window” is available now in the store section. Seems like a good stocking stuffer, no?

GAMENIGHT just recorded a new song "This is Therapeutic", it's up on their MySpace page and it rocks! Go check it out. They'll be heading into the studio very soon to begin tracking their new songs for their split with MOUTH MOVEMENTS.

And speaking of MOUTH MOVEMENTS they're now writing their songs for the spit and will be recording shortly after GAMENIGHT finishes up. We're hoping to have that released early in the spring.

Things are definitely progressing with THE ASHTRAY LIFE and, while I don't want to go into too much detail before everything is settled, new stuff will be available from Derek soon.

As usual, new dates have been posted in the shows section. Go rock out.

October 21, 2007

Hello, hello. It's been a while since the last update, sorry for that. Busy times. Let's try for a chronological news update.

We here at Missing Words moved… again. You may recalled we moved temporarily up to San Francisco for a while last year and we're here again, but this time it's permanent. We don't have a new PO box yet but our old one is still being checked so any demos sent will still be received. If any Bay Area bands have shows coming up be sure to let us know. It would be nice to get involved with our new local scene.

Next week I WAS A LOVER DeLOREAN WAS A DEALER's EP “My Window” will be hitting the streets! Yay! It's up for preorder now in the store section. It will be available in digital music stores in December. By the way, Justin Dempsey from THE RETURN is now playing drums full time for IWALDWAD so the rock will be increasing exponentially.

Derek, a.k.a. THE ASHTRAY LIFE is in the process of recording his first EP that will be released before the end of the year. This EP will only be available at shows and digitally through digital music stores. A full length will (hopefully) follow next year. Also, Derek was recently interviewed on the Songs from a Window “Lamecast”. He discusses THE ASHTRAY LIFE, THE RETURN and plays some songs. Check it out here.

MOUTH MOVEMENTS and GAMENIGHT are in the writing process of their split CD. They'll begin recording it before the end of the year for a Winter 2008 release.

All these bands have shows coming up so be sure to check out the shows section!

Lastly the CAPULET album, "Ship to Shore" will be on digital shelves next month. Hooray!

AUGUST 19, 2007

Hello out there in Missing Words land! Lots of news for you this time around.

First off we'd like to welcome a new band to the label, I WAS A LOVER DeLOREAN WAS A DEALER. I WAS A LOVER are from our home Ventura, CA and play an experimental brand of rock, the likes of which you've never heard. Their debut EP, “My Window”, will hit the streets next month! A special note to all those fans of THE RETURN out there, Justin, the former drummer of THE RETURN, has just joined I WAS A LOVER DeLOREAN WAS A DEALER so if you miss his amazing drum work go see them live!

Next up, we have a new digital-exclusive release coming soon, “Ship to Shore” by CAPULET. From Knoxville, Tennessee, CAPULET is the former band of GAMENIGHT members Joshua and Brandon Manis. They disbanded last year but after hearing their unique style of indie rock we decided it would be a shame if the music didn't outlast the band. Look for it soon on ITunes and other digital music stores!

Annnd speaking of GAMENIGHT, after their successful seven week tour with our boys MOUTH MOVEMENTS, the two bands have decided to join forces and release a split CD featuring songs by each band. This release is still in the writing and planning stages but you heard it here first. More news to come as soon as it's available.

And finally, if any of you are planning on attending DENVERFEST at the end of this month be sure to check out MOUTH MOVEMENTS while you're there. You can get all the info on this great festival at www.dfesthq.com.

To hear all the bands mentioned above check out our top friends!

Thanks a lot for your continued support, we love you… seriously.

AUGUST 1, 2007

Our two latest releases, The Return "The Arsonist (Plays the Architect)" and Mouth Movements "This is the Way We Reform You" are both now available on ITunes and other digital music stores! Hooray! Check them out here:

THE RETURN - The Arsonist (Plays the Architect)

MOUTH MOVEMENTS - This is the Way We Reform You

In other news Mouth Movements have been added to a festival at the end of this month called Denverfest. It features such amazing bands as Christie Front Drive, Red Sparowes and Planes Mistaken for Stars. If you're in the area you should definitely check it out and be sure to see Mouth Movements while you're there. They've added some other dates too so check out the shows section for all the info.

JULY 3, 2007

The Return's new album "The Arsonist (Plays the Architecht)" is in our bands! Go to the store section to buy it! All preorders are shipped but just a heads up, any orders made right now will be delayed and will ship on July 19th since I'm on tour with Mouth Movements and well... I'm the only employee. Sorry kids. It's worth the wait though! Come see Mouth Movements if they're coming to your town... and come say hi to me.

June 19, 2007

The Arsonist (Plays the Architecht), the new album by The Return is now available for pre-order. Go to the store section to buy it! It's awesome, trust me.

June 14, 2007

The Return's new album "The Arsonist (Plays the Architecht)" will be available on July 3rd and their CD release show will be in Hollywood, CA at the Knitting Factory on June 29th! Come out to the show and get the record early! Better yet, Mouth Movements is on that show as well so come out and pick up both new Missing Words releases (and maybe get a Gamenight CD too while you're there).

Speaking of Mouth Movements, the tour is going really well. Come out to a show if they're in your area! As I mentioned in my last post, I'm on the road with them so if you'd like to read about some of the tour shenanigans and see a ton of pics and videos check out my personal blog at www.badfeelingaboutthis.com.

June 6, 2007

In other news The Return are sending off their record to the plant this week and we're all preying they make it to us by the end of the month. I guess we'll find out soon!

May 10, 2007

Well, wereformyou.com is up and running! Head there to hear the entire new Mouth Movements CD before it hits stores!

May 5, 2007

Ahhh so much news in Missing Words land, where shall we begin?

The Mouth Movements album, This is the Way We Reform You, is being pressed as we speak and will hit the streets on the 29th of this month. Very soon you'll be able to hear the entire album at wereformyou.com. Until then, look around this website for a couple MP3s, band bio and all that fun stuff. Also, be sure to check out their tour dates, they'll be all over the US this Summer. Come get rocked.

In other news we have two new releases... sort of. The Return's full length demo "Revolution of the Mind" and The Invocation's "Prevent This Day" have both been released in digital form only. What does that mean? Well it means you can buy the full albums on places like ITunes and put them on those lovely IPods everyone has nowadays. Both albums will be available on all the digital music stores that carry Missing Words releases (which is most of them). It does take time for those stores to put up new releases though so if your favorite store doesn't have them yet just keep checking!

The Invocation, by the way, is a band we worked with a few years ago who broke up just before we had a chance to release their album. If you have any of our old sampler CDs you may remember them from those. They're the "hardest" band we've ever worked with and they work super hard. Be sure to check out their songs on our media page.

Onto the sad news, our boys The Return have decided to take an indefinite hiatus. You can read all about it here. They will be finishing up their album The Arsonist (Plays the Architect) as well as a limited edition DVD and playing at least one more show so be sure to keep an eye out for all the info on that. Hopefully this is just a short break for the Return... and maybe it'll give Derek some time to finish the Ashtray Life album?

That's it for now. May 29th, kids, MOUTH MOVEMENTS - THIS IS THE WAY WE REFORM YOU, go pre-order it now!

March 15, 2007

Hey kids, it's official, we have a new band on our roster. Well, sort of new, 3 out of the 4 members were in The Shape but hey, The Shape were awesome. Anyway, please give it up for MOUTH MOVEMENTS from Knoxville, TN!

Mouth Movements debut album "This is the Way We Reform You" will be out early Summer. The album was recorded at Monovibe studio in Elizabethton, TN with Jeremiah Nave (except for the drums, which were recorded at Paramount Theater in Bristol, TN) and will be mastered by Alan Douches @ West West Side Mastering.

The boys just posted a track called "You Remain" from the new record, please head over to their MySpace profile and get rocked:

www.myspace.com/mouthmovements

Also, Mouth Movements will be on the road all Summer with their homies Gamenight. Be sure to head out to a show and have your pants blown off. Literally, blown off.

As always, thanks for supporting Missing Words, we love you.

March 4, 2007

Just a quick update. The Ashtray Life will be playing a few shows this month. Come watch Derek rock out.

February 22, 2007

Okay, still not quite time to release our biggish news but just to tide you over here's a little smaller MWR news.

Fans of The Return who aren't quite old school enough to own a copy of their self released first album "Revolution of the Mind" will soon have a chance to get their hands on a copy,.. or well, virtual hands on a virtual copy I guess. We're re-issuing “Revolution” as a digital-only release. That means you'll be able to buy all the songs on “Revolution” (plus a bonus track) at places like ITunes, Rapsody, Sonocap (MySpace) and a host of other digital music stores. That album should go live in a month or so; we'll be sure to post links on here as soon as that happens.

JANUARY 12, 2007

We've got some good news coming soon but it's not quite time to announce it... so I guess you'll just have to make due with some more Return show dates.

If you're in the Ventura area make an effort to head out to their show on February 3rd, they're supporting our homies the Army of Freshmen at their CD release show. The artwork on that album is especially pretty by the way!

November 23 , 2006

A few new Return dates added today. Also, we're on a waiting list for a PO box in our new location, until the wait is over feel free to send demos to the address now listed in our contact section. Thanks!

OCTOBER 17 , 2006

Back in 1999 we had our first release, Just Not Punk Enough a compilation of a whole bunch of bands. One of those bands was Cousin Oliver, a Drive-Thru records punk/ska band from LA. For our comp they recorded a cover of the 1962 Bobby "Boris" Pickett hit "Monster Mash". Recently I was contacted by an amateur animator, Gary Ramey, who informed me he put the song to video. So, in honor of Halloween check out Monster Mash by Cousin Olvier:

A big thanks to Gary Ramey, Cousin Olver and Drive-Thru for this. By the way, if you'd like a copy of Just Not Punk Enough good luck! It's way out of print but available at a few online stores still, it's also available for download on ITunes.

September 3 , 2006

The Return will be heading into the studio soon to begin work on their next album. It's going to rock. Woo!

We'll be having some very special free stuff available only to our MySpace friends so, if you haven't yet, be sure to add Missing Words Records as a friend and check your bulletins shortly before the show!

Yay!

March 6 , 2006

Added a few shows to the shows page, including a far-too-rare Ashtray Life show! Rock!

February 7 , 2006

Hey look the new site is up! I hope you all enjoy it. Please e-mail me if you find any problems. Thanks!

January 13, 2006

I'm lagging on making a new site and I apologize for the lack of updates. As for news; soon you should be able to get MWR songs though the new Verizon V Cast, meaning that customers can download our songs directly to their phones! I believe the service launches on January 16th so be sure to check it out... and if anyone does buy our songs send me a mail and let me know how it worked!

New Return dates addred to the tours page and a new site should be up eventually. Rock on.

October 26, 2005

We have a new demo policy! We're now happy to accept online demos so check out the submission guidelines and send us stuff! A new MWR site is coming soon but for now I added some new shows and fixed some links. Enjoy.

September 19, 2005

Depressing news. Very depressing. I regret to inform everyone that Missing Words band and one of my personal favorite bands, The Shape has decided to call it quits. The boys played their final show on Friday and posted the following to address their fans:

"I'm not going to throw out the lame excuses like most bands do. The fact is, bands break up. Usually on good terms and to start greater, more inspiring things. That is the case here. For those of you who have been so very supportive of us, thank you so much."

On the bright side, members of The Shape are planning to begin work on a new project which I will do my best to keep you informed of. In addition, the Shape recorded a new demo earlier in the year and I hope to put it to use some how in some way so their fans can hear it.

So another band bites the dust, hopefully this is just a chance for Missing Words to move onto bigger things. We'll miss you Shape.
